The first part of our tour will be outside the Medina starting by the wonderful Royal palace seven gates that are made of copper, marble and small pieces of Mosaic. Then, we’ll visit the old Jewish Quarter – goes back to 17 th Century- and the charming Sbil garden so as to benefit from the fresh air there. After that, our guide will lead you to discover the most beautiful panoramic views in the Marinid tower from where you may see the whole old medina of Fez city. And finally we‘ll finish the outside tour by visiting the apprentice school of Fez pottery and mosaic.
Fez Walking Tour is going to be headed directly inside the old Medina. Starting by the largest and oldest Tannery in Africa, where workers use merely natural colors to produce high quality of leathers which will be turned later on to wonderful goods made by professional craftsmen.
Then, we’ll let you explore some Islamic schools like Al-Qarawiyyin University; the first School/Mosque built in Morocco. It has a special prestige and incredible influence On Fez development. Then, we’ll move to other schools like: Medersa Bouanania (founded in AD 1351–56 by Sultan Abu Inan Faris) that is widely known as an excellent example of superb Marinid architecture and finally Medersa Al-Attarine which was created by Sultan Uthman II Abu Said.
We guide you afterwards to visit the great and magnificent Moulay Idriss shrine – Morocco’s most important pilgrimage site-.
